Congratulations to the ZHS Mock Trial teams for their performance in the Louisiana State Bar Association Region 3 Mock Trial Competition on Friday and Saturday which included 23 competing teams. The ZHS blue team of Ellen Manuel, John Carl Begley, Juliana Voiers, Jake Robertson, Aasha Henderson, Olivia Hurst, and Jessica Staggs went 2 and 1 in the tournament losing in the quarterfinals.
Special congratulations to the ZHS black team of Jordan Kozar, Eddie Veal, Aanan Henderson, Nash Joyner, Zoe Heeter-Collins, Reagan Staggs, and Shelby Waddell for going 4 and 0 in the tournament and winning the Region 3 Championship. The black team will now move on to compete as one of the final 8 teams in the LSBA State Mock Trial Tournament in Lake Charles on March 28. This is the second straight year that a team from ZHS has won the regional championship and the third straight appearance in the state tournament.
Aanan Henderson was chosen as best student-attorney in the Regional Competition and Eddie Veal was chosen best witness in the Regional Competition for the second straight year.
