We have a very special announcement to make about one of our students and that student is Joseph Florida. Over the holidays, Joseph received word that he is accepted to attend the United States Naval Academy. Upon graduation from the academy he will have earned a bachelor’s degree and will be commissioned an officer in the United States Navy.
Gaining acceptance to any of our nation’s military academies is an extremely competitive process. Each year there are approximately 15 to 20,000 applicants to the US Naval Academy and only 10% or approximately 1500 students are accepted. Joseph is a member of our JROTC Program and holds the position of Battalion Executive Officer with the rank of Cadet Major. He is also a member of our power lifting team, a former member of our wrestling team and has a cumulative GPA of 4.0.
